Children and Youth are a central focus of our ministry and programming. Every Sunday we offer a Children’s Sermon at our 10am worship service. Sunday School classes are taught by dedicated and trained teachers and are age-appropriate. Our older youth are given special attention through our Chi Rho (middle school) and CYF (high school) programs. Childcare is provided in our Nursery & Toddler rooms on Sundays.

From summer camps in music, dance, photography, theatre and art to children’s choirs, mission trips for older youth, Christmas pageants and our live Nativity event, and many more activities, children and youth at FCCNH are offered a rich variety of experiences for spiritual growth, fun & fellowship.

Jeremy Gillett was born in Cedar Falls, IA and raised in Chicago, IL and Lexington, KY. He moved to Lexington when his father was called to pastor a Disciples of Christ church.
Jeremy earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky and a Master’s of Fine Arts degree in performance from Arizona State University. He received a teaching fellowship at ASU and taught introductory acting classes for three years. He was named the first National Diversity intern for The Broadway League and ATPAM (Association of Theatrical Press Agents and Managers) while attending ASU. His stage credits include an ensemble role in The Arizona Theatre Company’s production of Emma, Casey in the UK Main Stage production of The Grapes of Wrath and Boesman in Black Theatre Troupe’s production of Boesman and Lena. He is the author of the one-man show Black and 25 in America.
As an active member of the youth group in his home church he traveled to Puerto Rico as part of a youth program with the Christian Church in Kentucky, participated in youth camping programs in IL and KY and traveled to Haiti as part of a volunteer delegation with Global Ministries. Jeremy has attended several General Assemblies of the Christian Church and several gatherings of the National Convocation of the Christian Church. Jeremy was honored to preach for the 2011 class of the Academy of Preachers at the National Festival of Preachers in Louisville, KY.Newborn – 2 yrs
Childcare is provided in our loving and nurturing nursery on Sunday mornings beginning at 9:30am. Our nursery staff is trained, caring and attentive.
2 yrs to 5 yrs
Toddlers (2-3 1/2 years old) join our Toddler Room, while out 3 1/2 – 5 year olds sit with their parents at the beginning of the service and after Children’s moment, they go to our Pre-School Room for Sunday School. Staff arrives at 9:30am and leads the children in a weekly bible story, crafts, worship music and snacks.
On Sunday mornings children in Kindergarten through 5th grade begin their mornings in the worship service in the sanctuary. There is a special children’s message for them every Sunday. After the children’s message, these children go to the chapel for music worship, a weekly bible story, communion and offering.
After this group time together, the children go to their classrooms, grouped by age: Kindergarten/1st grade; 2nd-3rd; and 4th/5th. There they continue their weekly bible lesson, work on crafts and have a snack.

CHI RHO
6th – 8th Grades
Chi and Rho are the first two letters of the word “Christ” in Greek so it is appropriate that as our children become youth they begin learning who Jesus is to them on a more personal level. Chi Rho is a group designed specifically for middle school youth that encourages discussions, questions, and learning about faith, life, the Bible, and more.
We play a lot of fun games, eat a bunch of good food, and hang out with one another in a supportive, bully-free zone that is Christ centered and always fun.
The group is open to all middle-school youth in grades 6th – 8th. The group meets Wednesday from 3:30 pm-5:30 pm for after school study and fellowship, Friday from 6 pm-8 pm for fun and fellowship, and Sunday morning for Sunday school. We will also have sleepovers and pop-up day mission trips. The goal of this group is to support our youth in their daily lives and walk with them as they develop their faith. CYF
9th – 12th Grades
CYF stands for Christian Youth Fellowship, and that is what we are: a group of Christian youth who are navigating together the murky waters of high school. We are a discussion-based group that focuses on faith, relationships, family, social issues, and life in general. We believe a group who plays hard, eats well and prays often will thrive. And the members will be better able to succeed in all aspects of their lives. We focus on challenging ourselves in order to go out into the world and make it a better place.
The group is open to all young people in grades 9th – 12th. The group meets Sunday morning for Sunday school at 10:30am in the Bride’s room, Sunday night between 6:30pm-8:00pm for fellowship and various fun activities and Wednesday from 3:30pm-5:30pm for after school study and fellowship. We will also have pop-up mission trips, sleepovers, and swimming parties. We believe in serving the community around us. Summer Camps for Kids
Each summer FCCNH hosts a variety of camps that nurture, teach, develop and enable children to explore and discover their talents. Camps include Music, Dance Fitness, Drama, Photography, Art and Vacation Bible School. Instructors are professionals who nurture and mentor the children. The FCCNH summer camps began over a decade ago and now attract hundreds of kids to this incredible experience of fun and exploration. Be sure to get your reservation in early as these camps fill up quickly.

It’s a VBS unlike ever before. BOLT is a 3-day “backyard” VBS that is custom made for families during the COVID19 shutdown. Every aspect of the VBS experience has been made so user friendly that any family can easily do it at home.
With minimal preparation, easy to follow instructions, and a video that leads kids step-by-step through each day, BOLT VBS is the perfect quarantine-friendly solution for your family.
BOLT Virtual VBS will be available all summer long, available to you whenever you want to take part. Once you register, you’ll receive an email with login instructions to the family portal.
This camp is open to Grades K-5.
This week of dance will be filled with genres including ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and yoga. We will offer beginner/intermediate levels based on age. Every morning will begin with a warm up – stressing the importance of waking the body up before a busy day – and end with mind and body calming yoga.

This camp is open to Grades K-12.
Virtual art camp from your home computer! We will do a morning session of 2-Dimensional work in drawing and painting. A brief one-hour break will allow everyone to have lunch and then we will reconvene for an afternoon session of 3-Dimensional sculpture projects. Art supplies will be picked up at the church by parents.
Virtual cooking lessons with fun and easy recipes. Staying at home won’t stop us from cooking and baking some delicious summer treats. Cooking Camp not only teaches cooking skills, but kitchen and food safety. Campers will have the option of ordering an “ingredients kit” (much like a meal delivery kit) for an additional cost. We can’t wait to see what you’ll whip up!
No Hollywood budget necessary, no expensive camera equipment needed. An innovative summer camp with a special interest in YouTube and video production is a unique venue for middle schoolers to explore the ins and outs of video production and filmmaking. Not only do kids learn a coveted and useful set of skills, but they can also experience the perfect mix of summer learning via online instruction hours from 9:30-12:30pm, with independent hours afterward. Open to ages 12+

Ages 4 – 12th Grades
All of our youth at FCCNH have the opportunity to experience the fun and sometimes life-changing experience of camping with other young Christian campers led by trained and caring personnel. The youth camp at Loch Leven Camp and Conference Center is in the striking San Bernardino National Forest. The camp is operated by the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Pacific Southwest Regional Office.
There is a full set of summer camps for kids of all ages and physical abilities. There are also winter camp opportunities that serve as weekend retreats, and other events during the year.
